Does Network Marketing = MLM?

Are you a network marketer or an internet marketer? What is the difference between the two?

Attraction marketing principles as developed in Ann Seig’s report “The 7 Great Lies of Network Marketing” are all the rage in the network marketing world these days. Many using this approach have been involved in other MLMs where the development of a business of their own has been hurt, or even stifled, by their own upline or company’s marketing policies.

Recently a colleague mentioned she was considering switching MLMs. She described the positive attributes of the new opportunity and concluded with...”and after all, I really need to be associated with one so I’m not being hypocritical to my downline.”

So, what do your think...

”Do internet marketers have to be associated with an MLM?”

We pursued this a bit further, and after some consideration came up with some interesting observations.

*There are other ways to earn money in a home-based business besides MLM.

• affiliate marketing: marketing other people’s products
• funded proposals: nformation sales, such as e-books, reports, e-courses
• hard-goods or physical products that you create
• business services, such as coaching/training/mentoring or article writing
• What’s important to know is WHAT you’re selling, and WHO you’re selling it to!

*There is a difference between network marketing and internet marketing.

So, you can be involved in network marketing and NOT be involved in internet marketing, although in this day and age, you’d be crazy to pursue that approach. But the opposite is not true! Achieving success in internet marketing requires internet network marketing. You must build a constantly-growing network of contacts, customers, down-line, and leads...traffic that gets your name and valuable content out to “the masses” who are seeking it!

*So how does one become successful in internet network marketing without an MLM?

Success in network marketing (or affiliate marketing, or any home-based business, for that matter) is achieved by the person who stands out as a leader by mastering attraction marketing principles, offering value to others, constantly learning and growing in business and being willing to help others along the way.

Those who either have a product to sell or have the creativity to develop a value-laden product to sell will have to develop internet marketing skills to stay alive.
