Can a Funded Proposal Work For Product Retailing?

By Mike Klingler

There is much talk about the funded proposal network marketing business model. This is where you create a generic information product that you can sell to people who are looking to learn how to build a network marketing business.

Magnetic Sponsoring by Mike Dillard and The Renegade Network Marketer by Ann Sieg are excellent examples. A certain percentage of people that purchase this product will join you in your business opportunity.

While this may work for people who are looking to recruit new distributors into their organizations, what about people who are looking to make product retail sales? Can a funded proposal work for these types of distributors as well?

Network Marketers Must Address the Need and Solve the Problem

Funded sponsored proposals can work for product retailing as well. The key is to figure out what type of information would the prospect be searching for that your product can help to address. As long as your product has a definable problem and prospects are actively searching for a solution, you can use a funded proposal to make product retail sales.

Network Marketers Can Use Funded Proposals for Product Retail Sales

Step #1 Identify a specific targeted consumer group that you can market to that would be interested in the product you offer.

For instance, if you offer a juice that provides antioxidant properties, you should market to people who are looking for ways to remove harmful elements from the body. This can be done by looking for web sites and communities that are set up around these topics or around products that address similar issues.

Step #2 Create a free offer that will entice this group of people to provide you their contact information.

It can be a short report, an audio or a special video that reveals some free information about how to address a challenge they are dealing with. Be sure to make your opt-in box easy to find and with clear instructions.

Not only will this help you with your funded proposal, but capturing the leads on your own will prevent you from having to buy leads in the future.

So if you offer a weight loss product, you can provide a free report that talk about the 7 ways to lose weight without going on a diet or exercising. Of course one of those ways will be your product and will give you an opportunity to promote your product.

Step #3 Provide additional offers for which the prospect will have to pay.

The paid offer could be your retail product. However, it could also be an information product similar to the free product but which provides more detail so that the prospect will see the value in paying for it. You can also promote affiliate products that will generate additional commissions for you as well.

Step #4 Create content that is related to attracting product users as opposed to business opportunity seekers.

You can do this by creating articles, videos, press releases and marketing on social networking web sites, blogs and discussion forums. Once you complete all of these steps, you now have a fully funded proposal that you can use to market and build a base of retail customers for your product.
