Jeffery Jeff Combs is a network marketing trainer with over 20 years of experience in the industry. His first 10 years were spent as a distributor building a massive network marketing organization. The last 10 years he has spent as a trainer and coach, helping thousands of network marketing distributors maximize their results.
Jeffery Combs has a signature book entitled More Heart than Talent. In this book he reveals how talent is very overrated and that heart is the true barometer that measures how successful someone will be in life.
Why Network Marketing Success Comes From Heart Rather Than Talent
The reason most people don’t experience network marketing success is they simply don’t have enough heart to make the changes in life necessary to succeed. According to Jeffery Combs, success takes risk and only those with enough heart are willing to take the risks necessary to succeed.
So how does having more heart than talent apply to internet network marketing?
Too many distributors when they first get approach to the concept of building a network marketing organization online become intimidated by the concept. There are a number of reasons why this occurs.
One reason is because there’s a good chance that their upline organization is not doing it, not teaching it and in many cases discouraging people from doing it. Here’s a question you want to ask yourself if you find yourself in this predicament.
“Is what my upline teaching working for me and in a way I feel comfortable building my network marketing business?”
If the answer is YES then you should absolutely continue to do what your upline is teaching you. We are not claiming that internet network marketing is the only way to build a successful network marketing organization.
However, if what your upline is teaching is not working for you and is not a way that you feel comfortable building your business, the bottom line is that it is up to you to do something about it.
Become an “Independent Distributor” In Your Network Marketing Organization
Remember, when we all signed our distributor agreements, we signed independent distributor agreements. That means we are all the CEOs and the owners of our own businesses.
What this means is that you are the one who is ultimately responsible for how you are going to build your business. Your upline doesn’t pay your bills, doesn’t work on that job that you hate and they don’t provide you with the time freedom to spend with your family.
Therefore, as a business owner sometimes you are going to have to make some hard decisions. Decisions that take heart and guts and one of those decisions may be to depart from the strategies and techniques your upline teaches.
Talent is Not Required To Succeed In The Network Marketing Industry
The other biggest misconception when it comes to building a business using an internet network marketing approach is the belief that you need some type of technology talent. Many distributors falsely believe that you have to be a “techie” to build an organization online.
With the advent of social networking and web 2.0 technology, this is no longer the case. While previously you had to hire a programmer to get your content online, today that is no longer necessary. As long as you are able to click and read you can post content online quickly and easily.
So don’t worry if you aren’t the most technologically talented person. You don’t need to be. All you need is to work on developing the heart necessary to stick around this industry long enough. You will experience success and change your life just like Jeffery Combs did.
