How to Use Effective Search Engine Optimization Strategies for Your Website

By John Enns

Using effective search engine optimization strategies is something that should be on the top of your list when designing your website, but it is something that a lot of new internet network marketers leave out or use to a very minimal degree.

It has been reported that over 60% of all the websites on the internet are not properly optimized for the search engines. You can use that to your advantage if you learn SEO and properly structure your site.

You might have already heard about using proper keywords and increasing your link popularity by getting incoming links, but that alone is not always going to get you the results you're looking for.

I’m going to focus this article on the structure of your site because it is also of great importance.

Learn SEO and create a website that works

A website needs to be structured in an orderly manner with all your internal links as well as any incoming links linking upward to the main category pages. One of the biggest mistakes I see people making and I have made this mistake myself is not having any rhyme or reason for your links.

A lot of internet business marketers will link from one article to another without really understanding why they are linking to it other than it relates to their article, but linking without knowing proper SEO structure causes cross linking and a mess for the search engines to follow.

Your website should be setup like a tower or silo structure with your main site theme or home page at the very top then your categories pages below that with your content pages in each category below that.

All of your category pages should be an in-depth report on what that category is about with links going to your lead capture page or main sales page. Never link from one category page to another category page this causes cross linking and is not effective search engine optimization.

Think of your website like a kitchen and each category is a cupboard and your content pages are about what is in each cupboard. For example one cupboard might have bowls in it another might have saucepans another pots and so on.

Now if you have a content page under the bowls category you would never link to a content page under the pots category or any of the other content pages, but instead you would link to one of the category pages or the main theme page.

Effective Search Engine Optimization Rules for Incoming Links

The same rules apply to incoming links, when linking into your site always try to link to your main category pages or the main theme page. Your incoming links should link to one of your category pages 70% of the time and 30% of the time to your home page.

By using effective search engine optimization strategies with the structure of your website you will not only increase your chances of reaching a top position for your keywords, but it will also help increase your google page rank as well as send your visitors right where you want them to go
